Hours 15–20 hours per week (depending on candidate)
Flexible working arrangements may be considered. Some evening and weekend work may occasionally be required in line with productions, events and fundraising activity.
Job Purpose
The Fundraising and Marketing Officer will play a key role in supporting the financial sustainability, profile and audience development of Viva Arts and Community Group Ltd.
The role combines responsibility for fundraising, sponsorship and donor development with the coordination and delivery of marketing and public relations activity across all areas of the organisation, including productions, touring work, the charity shop, youth activities and community projects.
The successful candidate will help increase earned and contributed income, strengthen relationships with supporters and sponsors, and ensure Viva maintains a strong and professional public profile across both digital and print platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Fundraising & Development
- Research and identify appropriate grant and funding opportunities.
- Prepare and submit grant applications and funding bids.
- Monitor funded projects and complete evaluation reports and funder reporting requirements.
- Develop and manage regular giving and individual giving schemes.
- Build and maintain relationships with donors and supporters.
- Seek sponsorship opportunities and manage sponsor relationships.
- Develop sponsorship packages and supporter schemes.
- Coordinate fundraising campaigns, appeals and fundraising events.
- Support the development of new income generation opportunities.
Marketing & Public Relations
- Lead on marketing and PR activity for all Viva events and productions.
- Coordinate marketing for professional touring productions and pantomime productions.
- Deliver marketing and publicity campaigns for the Viva Charity Shop.
- Manage marketing for the Saturday School, Youth Theatre, Cinema programme and other projects as required.
- Produce and coordinate social media content across platforms.
- Coordinate print design and promotional materials including posters, flyers and programmes.
- Maintain an up-to-date press and media database.
- Build and maintain relationships with local and regional media outlets.
- Draft press releases and promotional copy.
Digital & Communications
- Ensure the Viva website remains up to date and accurate.
- Maintain and update Box Office information and event listings.
- Coordinate email marketing and audience communications.
- Monitor and report on ticket sales and campaign effectiveness.
- Support audience development and customer engagement initiatives.
Touring & Venue Liaison
- Liaise with venues hosting Viva touring productions regarding marketing requirements and publicity materials.
- Coordinate touring marketing assets and schedules.
- Support promotional activity for touring productions and partnerships.
Charity Shop Support
- Act as the main liaison point for the Viva Charity Shop in relation to marketing, promotion and fundraising activity.
- Support campaigns and initiatives that increase awareness and income generation for the shop.
General Duties
- Work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, Trustees and creative teams.
- Attend meetings and events as required.
- Undertake other duties reasonably associated with the role and the needs of the organisation.
Person Specification
Essential Criteria
Experience & Knowledge
- Experience of fundraising, grant applications or sponsorship development.
- Experience in marketing, communications or PR.
- Experience managing social media platforms and digital marketing activity.
- Excellent written communication skills, including copywriting and press releases.
- Experience coordinating multiple projects and deadlines.
- Understanding of audience development and promotional strategies.
Skills & Abilities
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work independently and use initiative.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritise workload effectively.
- Confident IT skills including social media, websites and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to analyse and report on sales and campaign performance.
- Ability and willingness to completely step away from performing or being a member of a creative team for Viva productions.

- Experience working within the arts, theatre or charity sectors.

- Understanding of touring theatre marketing.
