Part-Time Cook – The Gables Residential Home

We're looking for a Part-Time Cook to join our friendly kitchen team and help create memorable mealtimes for our residents.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys cooking from scratch, takes pride in preparing nutritious, homely food, and loves seeing people enjoy what they've made. Whether you're an experienced care home cook or simply someone with a real passion for cooking, we'd love to hear from you.
Working Pattern
- Morning shifts
- Set 2 week rolling rota
- 4 days one week and 3 days the next
- Alternate weekends
What you'll be doing
- Preparing and cooking nutritious home-cooked meals and traditional desserts.
- Creating varied menus that meet residents' dietary needs, preferences and nutritional requirements.
- Helping to provide a warm, welcoming dining experience where every resident feels at home.
- Maintaining high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness and kitchen safety.
- Working as part of a friendly and supportive care home team.
We're looking for someone who
- Loves cooking and preparing homemade meals.
- Enjoys baking traditional desserts.
- Takes pride in producing high-quality, nutritious food.
- Enjoys interacting with older people and understands how important mealtimes are.
- Is reliable, organised and works well as part of a team.
- Previous kitchen or catering experience is desirable but not essential. We welcome applications from people with a genuine passion for cooking, even if you have not worked as a professional cook before.
