Support Worker- Maternity Cover- 3 days a week, potential of rising to 5 days. 12 month contract.
Compass St Johns is a community based Supported Housing organisation. We rent single occupancy properties from Landlords and Letting Agents in Leeds, subsequently housing clients within them. Our clients are high risk offenders, currently residing in the community, managed by the National Probation Service. Our clients experience multiple complex needs. It is the role of the support worker to engage with the client in a Trauma Informed way, aiming to achieve independent living. This will involve supporting both within the home and the wider community the client lives in. Typical support needs/tasks to be undertaken in the role are:
· Attending external appointments with clients, such as doctors, Job Centre, Probation.
· Supporting clients to access voluntary or paid employment
· Helping build confidence in budgeting, paying bills, generally developing the skills to maintain a home.
· Signposting and making referrals to other supportive agencies with clients.
· Ensuring effective communication of work undertaken with clients to other relevant agencies.
The team is expected to be flexible within their roles, supporting colleagues with tasks that don’t necessarily fall within allocated caseloads.
We are looking for:
Essential
· 1 Years relevant experience (paid or voluntary) OR Degree in Relevant Subject.
· Clean Full Driving Licence (the role requires the ability to drive).
· DBS check to be completed by Compass St Johns upon successful interview.
· Ability to communicate in several formats – verbal, written, email etc.
Desirable
· Confidence to Lone Work within client’s properties
· Ability to work in a Multi-Agency Approach
· Knowledge of local support organisations for various needs, including Substance Misuse, Mental Health.
· Knowledge of the Criminal Justice System
· Use of own motor vehicle (company cars are available for use primarily), mileage paid via Bank Transfer Monthly.
Job Type: Part time, Temporary
Salary- £29,434 Pro rata- 3 days a week salary £17,655.
8am - 4pm Monday to Friday- work days TBC
