Roger Oates Design is a thriving luxury flooring business with locations in Herefordshire, Devon and London. Established over 30 years ago we are synonymous for our hand-woven striped runners and floor coverings. Our products are produced using traditional techniques to ensure an unrivaled quality for our discerning client base.
We are looking to recruit a Sewing Assistant to join our Production Team. The successful candidate will report directly to our Workroom Coordinator and be trained by our Head Sewer in the hand finishing of our flooring products to a high standard. The successful candidate will be able to work well independently and as part of a small team, showcasing a demonstrable eye for detail and quality.
Daily tasks include but are not limited to:
- Inspect our products by eye and feel to identify any imperfections found, repairing the product by hand
- Cutting, hand sewing and finishing our products to client order specifications
- The occasional use of industrial sewing machine work, creating Mitres to support in the installation process of our products
- Assist in creating products for design development
- Help and assist in product amendments following our quality control processes
- Any other duties as required
The ideal candidate:
- A keen eye for detail and a high level of accuracy
- Ability to prioritise and multi-task with a positive ‘can do’ approach and attitude
- A great team person with the ability to work under their own initiative
- Flexibility to help and assist with other tasks and duties and a willingness to learn
- Experience within a similar role desirable, but not essential
Full product training will be provided
Location: Eastnor, Herefordshire.
Hours of Work: 37.5 per week, 08.30 to 16.30, Monday to Friday including 30 mins unpaid for lunch.

Pay: £13.45-£13.70 per hour
