Overview
Laundry & Workwear Services Ltd are looking for a Transit Van Delivery Driver Monday to Thursday, 8 hours per day, 32 hours per week with the option to work a further 8 hours on Friday. We deliver an exceptional service to our customers!
In this energetic role, you will be responsible for safely transporting clean laundry goods & collecting soiled workwear garments & dust mats using a commercial van, ensuring timely and set day accurate deliveries. This paid position requires you to be active & healthy due to the day to day driving, stopping & starting at around 25 customers per day within the operational duties of a van driver.
You would need to make your own way to & from Laundry & Workwear depot OL1 2BQ to collect the van for deliveries throughout the day and return to unload for the industrial process of laundering garments collected and then to keep the van secure in the unit overnight ready for the next day, would suit applicant local to the Oldham area.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate a commercial van to deliver goods to various locations around the Greater Manchester area, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations
- Planned efficient delivery routes to maximize productivity and punctuality
- Load and unload items with care, including heavy lifting when necessary, ensuring items are secure during transit
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and team members to coordinate delivery schedules and resolve issues promptly
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections and maintenance checks to ensure the van remains in optimal condition
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation, including delivery sheets for accountability and record-keeping
- Assist in warehouse activities as needed, such as inventory management or preparing packages for deliveries
Requirements
- 30+ years of age only need to apply due to fleet insurance with proven delivery driver experience with a strong understanding of commercial driving practices although day to day route training will be given until confident to go alone.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; experience operating a van or similar vehicle preferred
- Ability to perform some heavy lifting safely and efficiently including loading, unloading workwear overalls, food trade overalls, dust mats, cabinet towels.
- Excellent communication skills to interact professionally with customers and team members
- Knowledge of local traffic laws and safe driving techniques
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to follow detailed instructions and routes
