Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Learning Support Assistant to join our vibrant educational community. Duties
- Provide tailored support to students with diverse needs, including those with autism and disabilities, fostering their independence and confidence
- Assist teachers in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) and classroom activities designed for children with special educational requirements
- Support students during lessons, breaks, and activities to ensure they remain engaged and safe
- Help facilitate communication between students, teachers, and parents to promote understanding and progress
- Support children with care routines, including feeding, toileting, and personal hygiene when necessary
- Monitor student behavior positively, encouraging social interactions and emotional regulation
- Maintain accurate records of student progress, incidents, and support strategies to inform ongoing planning
Skills
- Experience working with individuals with autism and other disabilities in educational or care settings
- Strong teaching skills combined with the ability to adapt approaches to meet individual student needs
- Previous experience working with children across different age groups, especially in early years or toddler care
- Knowledge of special education practices and strategies for inclusive learning environments
- Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with colleagues, students, and families
- Patience, empathy, and a proactive attitude towards supporting children's development
- Ability to remain calm under pressure while managing diverse classroom situations
