Yard Operative and Plant Fitter

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

Use forklift truck and loadall/telehandler to move equipment and load vehicles.
Work on non-mechanical plant - fuel tanks, water tanks, wheel washes etc.
Onsite breakdowns, services and general plant maintenance.
Internal stock management.
Ensuring stores stock levels include all necessary parts and accessories.
Conduct pre and post hire inspections and off-hire inspections. Complete paperwork and photos to evidence this.
Undertake individual job sheets to enhance visibility.
Prepare new assets for the hire fleet - includes completing livery works, ensuring oil levels are sufficient and ensuring overall “ready to go” completion of asset.
Perform quality control checks to ensure PDI standards are met.
Ensure vehicles enter and egress site safely and efficiently.
Use power tools and hand tools.
Assist in loading and offloading vehicles in the yard.
Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient processes.

Competency Requirements

Experience of working on a forklift and/or telehandler/loadall
Basic mechanical knowledge for work on pumps and non-mechanical plant.
Customer service skills, comfortable with communicating via telephone and face to face.
Ability to work with all levels of staff.
Professional approach to work and ability to manage own workload.
Possess excellent organisational and administrative skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Ability to write detailed information on job sheets and breakdown sheets.
Ability to read, understand and interpret client expectations.
Ability to respond effectively, sensitively and respectively to clients.
Effective time management skills.
Ability to take instruction and adapt to situations.
Outstanding communication skills at all levels.
General housekeeping ability to ensure workshop, yard and stores are safe and stocked.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £13.50-£15.50 per hour
