Assistant Bar Manager — Edinburgh Fringe 2026
C Aquila, C venues | Temporary | Full-time | 3rd August – 1st September
The Fringe is Edinburgh at its best, and C Aquila sits right in the middle of it. As part of C venues' award-winning C ARTS programme — a not-for-profit celebrating independent arts from around the world — we run two bars across the site: a box office bar serving audiences through the day, and a late-night artists' bar where the performers wind down once the shows come down.
We're looking for two Assistant Bar Managers to help run both across the festival. These bars usually operate with a single bartender on shift, so this is a self-reliant role for someone who's happy to own their space, keep their own standards, and run a calm, well-kept bar without someone looking over their shoulder. Some shifts hum along; others give you room to breathe. Either way, you set the tone.
The Role
- Running the box office bar and the late-night artists' bar, often as the sole bartender on shift
-Delivering warm, confident service across a mix of quieter and busier periods
-Liaising with C venues management to maintain bar cleanliness and presentation standards
-Keeping on top of stock levels and reporting shortages promptly Handling the nightly cashing-up process and end-of-shift reporting --
-Supporting and guiding junior staff in operating the bars Working with the backing of the overall Bar Manager throughout the run
Shifts
A full-time mix of: 12pm – 9pm (day) 9pm – 5am (late)
Late-night working is part of this role — you'll regularly be on until 5am. This isn't a nine-to-five, and we're upfront about that.
Essential A valid Scottish Personal Licence for the sale of alcohol. This is non-negotiable — without it, we can't consider your application.
Full availability across the festival run is ideal, 3rd August to 1st September Comfortable working independently and managing a bar on your own
Previous bar experience and a calm, self-directed approach Happy with late-night hours
The deal
-£14.00 per hour, paid weekly by BACS
