Job Description:
Position: Head Chef at Sodexo, Army HQ
We're looking for a passionate and motivated Chef to join our catering team. If you enjoy preparing high-quality food, thrive in a busy kitchen, and take pride in delivering excellent customer service, we'd love to hear from you.
Working as part of a professional catering team, you'll prepare, cook, and serve meals to the highest standards while ensuring food safety, hygiene, and quality are maintained at all times.
What You'll Do:

Prepare, cook, and present meals in line with approved recipes and menus.

Ensure food is cooked, stored, and served at the correct temperatures.

Support food service, including live cooking where required.

Assist with food preparation, storage, stock control, and food rotation.
-
Monitor and record temperatures for fridges, freezers, hot cabinets, and serving areas.

Maintain exceptional food hygiene, cleanliness, and Health & Safety standards.

Work collaboratively with the wider catering team to deliver an excellent service.

Complete all opening, closing, and handover procedures.

Receive and store deliveries, reporting any issues where necessary.

Build positive relationships with customers, colleagues, and the client.

Attend team meetings, training sessions, and development reviews.

Report maintenance issues, faulty equipment, or Health & Safety concerns promptly.
What You Bring:
Essential
-
Previous experience working as a Chef or in a similar catering environment.
-
One of the following qualifications (or equivalent):
NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Professional Cookery
City & Guilds 706/1 & 706/2
HND Catering
BSc Catering
MHCIM -
Level 2 Food Safety (CIEH) qualification or equivalent.

Good knowledge of food hygiene and Health & Safety regulations.

Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
-
Ability to work well under pressure and as part of a team.
Desirable
-
Experience working within a military or MOD environment.
-
IOSH qualification or equivalent.
-
Previous customer-facing experience.

Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
