This post is full time and permanent, working 35 hours per week.
The School of Life Sciences is looking to appoint an experienced and motivated individual to the role of Clinical Simulation Suite Technician within the School of Life Sciences. Located within Fitzrovia in Central London, the School of Life Sciences has a wide reputation for teaching, Research and Knowledge Exchange, hosting more than 2000 diverse, multicultural students on a well-established portfolio of foundation, undergraduate (BSc) and postgraduate (MSc) courses. In addition to our taught programmes, the school hosts a vibrant research community comprised of academic colleagues, post-doctoral and doctoral researchers which includes three research centres, an overarching, cross-university, research institute and has plans for further growth and reputation building working with a variety of established industry sector links.
You will join an established group of dedicated and skilled technical staff ensuring the delivery of high quality, consistent and flexible support to teaching, research and outreach activities across the school. This challenging and varied role will require you to have a solid technical background in Clinical Simulation with the ability to prioritise your workload effectively and work to tight deadlines with attention to detail. A hands-on, pro-active approach to work and 'can-do' attitude are essential. You will need to be versatile, enthusiastic, approachable and able to work independently as well as with others within the technical team. The role may involve frequent interaction with other members of the university including academic colleagues and students, so you will need excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with a variety of people in a variety of situations.
Your technical and practical skills will be utilised to support a variety of activities within the newly developed Clinical Simulation Suite, providing service, support, training and advice to users of this Suite and its associated equipment including manikins, clinical moulage and audio-visual systems as required. You will also assist in the development of clinical training scenarios. Previous experience of supporting and maintaining clinical simulation environments is therefore essential. The post will require moving and/or lifting of equipment and therefore manual handling training will be provided.
