We are seeking a motivated and knowledgeable Environmental Advisor (trainee considered) to support Dounreay in maintaining excellence in environmental compliance and delivering its environmental safety strategy. This is a key role offering the opportunity to influence site-wide environmental performance and contribute to critical projects.
The Role
You will provide expert environmental advice and guidance to ensure compliance with legislation while supporting the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of environmental practices across the site.
Working closely with facilities, project teams, and regulators, you will play a pivotal role in safeguarding environmental standards and enhancing operational performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a key stakeholder in environmental processes (DMRs, HAZOPs, UNORs)
- Provide specialist support and liaise with SEPA
- Deliver environmental guidance to facilities and project teams
- Develop and deliver environmental training and awareness
- Support and improve the Environmental Management System (EMS)
- Produce key environmental documentation (e.g. Best Practicable Means, aspects assessments and support files)
- Review, monitor and assure environmental compliance and arrangements
- Support knowledge sharing across environmental teams
- Represent Dounreay and support relevant committees and plans
- Fulfil responsibilities associated with applicable authorisations
What We’re Looking For
- Strong understanding of environmental legislation and compliance frameworks
- Experience working within regulated or high-hazard environments
- Ability to influence stakeholders and communicate complex environmental requirements clearly
- Proactive approach to continuous improvement and problem-solving
- Experience engaging with regulatory bodies (e.g. SEPA) is highly desirable
