About Us:
Assembly Solutions Ltd is a UK-based subcontract manufacturer of cable assemblies, wiring harnesses and control panels.
Purpose of the Role:
We are seeking an experienced and practical Health & Safety Advisor to support our business two - three days per week, or in the region of 16 hours per week. The hours and days can be negotiated to suit both parties.
The successful candidate will carry out regular health and safety inspections, identify potential risks and provide clear, practical advice to ensure our workplace remains safe and compliant with relevant health and safety legislation.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out regular workplace health and safety inspections and compliance checks.
- Identify hazards, unsafe working practices and areas of non-compliance.
- Produce clear inspection reports and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
- Monitor agreed actions to ensure they are completed within the required timescales.
- Review and support the completion of risk assessments, method statements and safe systems of work.
- Review existing health and safety policies, procedures and documentation.
- Advise managers and employees on health and safety responsibilities and best practice.
- Assist with the investigation of accidents, incidents, near misses and workplace concerns.
- Maintain accurate health and safety records, inspection logs and action trackers.
- Monitor the condition and use of personal protective equipment.
- Check fire safety arrangements, emergency procedures, first-aid provisions and workplace signage.
- Support health and safety inductions, toolbox talks and employee training where required.
- Liaise with contractors and suppliers to ensure appropriate health and safety standards are maintained.
- Help develop and promote a positive, practical and proactive safety culture.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Previous experience working in a Health & Safety Advisor or similar role.
- A recognised health and safety qualification, such as the NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent.
- Good knowledge of current UK health and safety legislations, COSHH and regulations.
- Experience carrying out workplace inspections, audits and risk assessments.
- Ability to identify risks and recommend practical, proportionate solutions.
- Strong written communication and report-writing skills.
- Confident communicator with the ability to work effectively with employees at all levels.
- Well organised, reliable and able to work independently.
- Competent in using Microsoft Office and maintaining electronic records.
About you:
We are looking for someone who is practical, organised and comfortable working directly with people on the shop floor. You will need to be able to challenge poor process control in the right way, follow actions through to completion and use data to identify where improvement is needed.

Summary:
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who can work independently, communicate confidently with employees and managers, and help promote a positive health and safety culture across the business.
Pay: £35,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
