Role: Volunteer – In-Home Befriending & Activities
Hours: Flexible – agreed around your availability
Would you like to give a little of your time and make a big difference to someone’s life?
SeeAbility is looking for friendly, reliable volunteers in Seaford to spend time with people we support in their homes. This is a rewarding opportunity to provide companionship, encourage interests and help someone enjoy more choice, connection and independence.
What will you do?
As a volunteer, you could spend time with someone doing activities they enjoy. Depending on their interests, this could include:
- Having a chat and enjoying a cup of tea together
- Arts and crafts
- Listening to or enjoying music
- Reading together
- Cooking or baking
- Gardening and caring for plants
- Playing games or simply spending quality time together
- Encouraging someone to take part in activities and enjoy their local community
You don't need to be an expert in any of these activities. Your enthusiasm, kindness and willingness to spend time with someone are what really matter.
How will you change someone's life?
For the person you support, your regular visits could mean having someone to talk to, trying something new, rediscovering an old hobby or simply having something to look forward to.
Your time could help someone feel less isolated, more confident and more connected, while supporting them to enjoy their interests and have greater independence.
Sometimes, something as simple as sitting together with a cup of tea, reading a book or planting some flowers can make a huge difference.
