Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and energetic Activities Co-ordinator to enrich the lives of residents in a caring and vibrant care home environment. In this role, you will design, organize, and lead engaging activities tailored to residents’ interests and needs, fostering social interaction, mental stimulation, and overall well-being. Your enthusiasm and dedication will create a lively community atmosphere where residents feel valued, supported, and inspired to participate actively in their daily lives.
Duties
- Plan and implement a diverse range of activities that promote social engagement, cognitive function, and physical health for residents.
- Collaborate with care staff to assess individual resident preferences, abilities, and care requirements, ensuring activities are inclusive and appropriate.
- Lead group activities such as games, arts and crafts, music sessions, outings, and themed events that encourage participation and enjoyment.
- Provide one-on-one support to residents with dementia or other cognitive impairments to ensure they feel comfortable and involved.
- Maintain accurate records of activities conducted, resident participation levels, and feedback to monitor engagement outcomes.
- Foster a positive environment by encouraging residents’ independence, creativity, and social connections within the community.
- Communicate effectively with residents’ families and care teams about activity plans and residents’ progress.
Requirements
- Proven experience in assisted living or nursing home settings with a focus on senior care.
- Strong understanding of dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, and caregiving best practices.
- Excellent communication skills to connect with residents of varying cognitive abilities and backgrounds.
- Prior experience coordinating activities in a care home environment is highly desirable.
- Compassionate attitude with a genuine interest in enhancing the quality of life for older adults.
- Ability to organize engaging programs while managing multiple responsibilities efficiently.
- Knowledge of safety protocols related to senior care environments is preferred.
