Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Transport Planner to join our logistics team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for designing efficient transportation routes, managing freight schedules, and optimising supply chain operations to ensure timely delivery and cost-effective transportation solutions. Duties
- Proactively liaise with key stakeholders and customers to identify and fulfil haulage opportunities
- Review haulage opportunities, optimising collections and determining order fulfilment by size, volume, vehicle requirements etc
- Input all business opportunities on to SAP, Haulage Exchange, 3T and associated haulage platforms to create visibility and ensure effective tracking of haulage works
- Contact customers to determine load time and confirm specifications
- Allocate and plan jobs/routes for drivers, ensuring efficient loading and logistical planning, monitoring transport issues and making changes to daily schedules where necessary
- Resolve issues faced by drivers and supporting the wider team in dealing with customer concerns
- Communicate fleet availability and issues to the team and troubleshoot critical transport-related issues, offering remedial solutions
- Record collection/delivery status and discrepancies in company systems and escalate issues where necessary
- Triage enquiries and provide quotes for ad-hoc orders
- Liaise with Compliance team to ensure vehicles and drivers are operating safely and are legally compliant
- Promote and maintain safe standards of work at all times
- Organise MOTs on vehicles and liaise with Compliance team regarding any vehicle repairs
Experience
- Proven experience in logistics or supply chain management with a focus on transportation planning.
- Strong knowledge of transportation management systems and ERP platforms
- Familiarity with 3PL operations, shipping & receiving procedures, and materials handling techniques.
- Excellent data analysis skills to interpret logistics metrics and identify process improvements.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities, in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills for collaborating across teams and external partners; proactive problem-solving mindset is essential.

Pay: £30,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
