Job Title: Yard Person / Telehandler Operative

Working Hours: 06:00-16:00
Role Overview
The Yard Person / Telehandler Operative is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the concrete yard, including handling raw materials, operating machinery, maintaining yard cleanliness, loading/unloading deliveries, and ensuring products meet required standards. The role involves physical work and adherence to strict safety and quality procedures.
Main working hours are Monday to Friday however there may be a requirement to work weekends depending on demand.
Key Responsibilities
Yard & Material Handling
- Load and unload vehicles and plant using forklifts, telehandlers, or other yard equipment.
- Move raw materials, moulds, and finished concrete products around the site safely.
- Assist with batching, preparing, and pouring concrete as required.
- Support production teams with mould setup and stripping.
Machine & Equipment Operation
- Operate yard machinery
- Carry out basic daily maintenance checks and report faults immediately.
Quality & Production Support
- Inspect finished products for defects and ensure they meet quality standards.
- Follow production schedules and communicate any delays or issues.
Health & Safety
- Follow all site safety rules, PPE requirements, and safe working procedures.
- Keep the yard clean, organised, and free of hazards.
- Report near-misses, hazards, and incidents promptly.
General Duties
- Support other yard staff when required.
- Maintain good communication with supervisors, drivers, and team members.
- Perform any additional tasks requested by management.
Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Experience working in a yard, construction, or manufacturing environment.
- Ability to operate or willingness to learn yard machinery
- Good awareness of health and safety practices.
- Physically fit and able to handle manual labour.
- Reliable, punctual, and a good team player.
Desirable:
- Valid telehandler licence
- Experience within a concrete, precast, or heavy manufacturing industry.
- Basic mechanical or maintenance knowledge.
