Overview
We are seeking a professional HGV Refuse Driver to join our waste management team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating heavy goods vehicles, specifically refuse collection lorries, ensuring efficient and safe collection of waste materials across designated routes. This role offers an opportunity to work within a dynamic environment, contributing to community cleanliness and environmental sustainability. A valid driving licence and previous experience in commercial driving or delivery roles are essential for this position.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate HGV refuse collection vehicles, adhering to all road safety and operational regulations.
- Collect waste from residential, commercial, and industrial sites according to scheduled routes.
- Ensure the secure loading and unloading of refuse containers, including flatbed loads when necessary.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections before and after shifts, reporting any faults or maintenance needs promptly.
- Maintain accurate records of collections and route completion times.
- Follow health and safety procedures at all times to prevent accidents or injuries during operations.
- Assist with vehicle cleaning and basic maintenance tasks to ensure optimal vehicle condition.
Qualifications
- Valid HGV licence with relevant categories for refuse collection vehicles.
- Proven experience in commercial driving or as a delivery driver, preferably with flatbed or similar vehicles.
- Excellent driving skills with a clean driving record.
- Knowledge of road safety regulations and waste collection procedures.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently within scheduled routes.
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Physical fitness to handle loading/unloading tasks and long hours on the road. This role is ideal for motivated individuals committed to delivering high standards of service while maintaining safety on the roads.
