Autism Teaching Assistant
Sense Education are looking for a patient, compassionate and inspiring Autism Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in Bury, supporting young people with Autism and a range of additional needs.

About the school
This specialist school in Bury supports young people aged 11-19 with Autism and a range of additional needs, providing a personalised approach to learning that celebrates each pupil’s individual strengths and aspirations. With a strong focus on confidence, resilience, independence and preparation for adulthood, the school creates a safe and respectful environment where every young person is encouraged to thrive.
With specialist facilities including sensory rooms, a hydrotherapy pool, sensory integration spaces, sports facilities and a sensory garden, pupils have plenty of opportunities to learn, explore and develop in ways that work for them.
The Role
As an Autism Teaching Assistant, you will:
· Build genuine, trusting relationships with young people with Autism
· Provide consistent, patient and individualised support throughout the school day
· Help pupils access learning through practical, sensory and engaging activities
· Encourage communication, confidence, resilience and independence
· Support young people to manage routines and navigate challenges
· Celebrate achievements and recognise the progress that might otherwise go unnoticed
· Work alongside teachers and other professionals to provide holistic support
· Help create an environment where young people feel safe, respected and understood

Qualifications & Requirements
· Minimum qualifications required – A recognised Teaching Assistant qualification or a background in education or care (NVQ, CACHE, Degree or equivalent)
· Experience supporting children with SEND
· Passionate working with young children or adults with disabilities

Role Type: Full Time/ Part Time/ Temp – Perm
Pay Rate: £14.60 - £16.90 per hour
Working Hours
Term-time only
Monday – Friday
8.30am – 3.30pm
Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. We undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but long term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
Pay: £14.60-£16.90 per hour
