Our English Language and Linguistics programme is growing, and as a result we’ve got a fantastic opportunity for someone versatile who can teach across a range of undergraduate modules and areas which include applied linguistics; discourse analysis; second language acquisition; language and pedagogy; and ecolinguistics. You will join a dedicated and research-active team in the teaching of our home and international undergraduates.
As a Senior Lecturer, you will combine excellent teaching with academic leadership and a developing research profile. You’ll lead modules, contribute to programme development, and help enhance the student experience across a diverse and international cohort.
You will teach across areas such as applied linguistics, discourse analysis, second language acquisition, language and pedagogy, and ecolinguistics, using creative and research-informed approaches. Alongside this, you’ll contribute to research outputs, funding applications, and knowledge exchange, building collaborations that enhance both impact and reputation.
What you’ll bring
- A postgraduate or doctoral qualification in Linguistics (or near completion)
- Expertise in areas such as psycholinguistics, applied linguistics, or ecolinguistics
- Proven experience of teaching in higher education, including module leadership
- A track record (or clear trajectory) in research, publication and/or professional practice
- The ability to design engaging, innovative teaching and assessment
- Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to supporting and inspiring students

In this role, you’ll be based at our modern Frenchay Campus where we’ve invested in state-of-the-art facilities designed to help both staff and students succeed.
You’ll spend most of your time on campus, typically 80% percent of your time, with the opportunity to work from home on the remaining days.
