Trinity Surfacing Ltd is a leading road surfacing and civil engineering contractor, delivering high-quality infrastructure projects across the UK. We are looking for an organised and proactive Logistics Planner to join our team at our Rochester depot.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys coordinating complex logistics operations. You'll play a vital role in ensuring our HGV fleet and asphalt machinery are in the right place, at the right time, helping our projects run safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
The Role
As a Logistics Planner, you will be responsible for coordinating the daily movement of our HGV fleet, ensuring asphalt machinery and associated equipment are delivered safely, efficiently, and on time. You'll work closely with drivers, site managers, customers, and the wider operations team to provide an outstanding transport service.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and schedule daily HGV movements for asphalt machinery and associated equipment.
- Allocate vehicles and drivers to maximise efficiency and productivity.
- Liaise with customers, site managers, and operational teams to coordinate delivery and collection schedules.
- Monitor vehicle locations and respond quickly to operational changes or delays.
- Ensure all transport activities comply with Driver Hours Regulations, the Working Time Directive, and Operator Licence requirements.
- Prepare and maintain transport documentation and delivery schedules.
- Communicate clearly with drivers, providing route information and operational updates throughout the day.
- Identify opportunities to improve route planning, reduce empty running, and minimise transport costs.
- Maintain accurate transport records and assist with operational reporting.
- Support the wider transport team in delivering a safe, compliant, and reliable service.
About You
We're looking for someone who is organised, calm under pressure, and enjoys solving logistical challenges.
You will ideally have:
- Previous experience in a Logistics Planner, Logistics Coordinator, or Logistics Administrator role.
- Experience planning HGV movements within construction, road surfacing, plant hire, heavy haulage, or logistics.
- A good understanding of Driver Hours Regulations and transport compliance.
- Excellent geographical knowledge of the UK road network.
- Strong organisational and multitasking skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and transport planning software.
- The ability to make informed decisions in a fast-moving operational environment.
Desirable Skills
- Knowledge of asphalt, highways, construction, or civil engineering operations.
- CPC qualification or relevant transport industry training.
- Experience using telematics or fleet management systems.
