ABOUT HVSS
High Voltage Substation Services Ltd (HVSS) specialises in the design, installation, testing and commissioning of high voltage substation systems up to 400kV. Established in 2009 and based in north west London, we work with some of the biggest and most innovative names in the energy sector – including DNOs, iDNOs, power generators and renewable energy providers across the UK. Recent projects include 33/11kV and 132/33kV turnkey schemes, 50MW and 67MW battery energy storage systems (BESS) and a 30.72MW PV farm.
ROLE PURPOSE
To lead the delivery of HV substation projects from award through to energisation and handover, controlling programme, cost, quality, safety and client relationships.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
– Manage the full lifecycle of substation projects up to 400kV – design, installation, testing and commissioning.
– Act as the primary point of contact for clients and the relevant DNO/TO.
– Develop, monitor and control project programmes (MS Project / Primavera).
– Manage project budgets, valuations, variations, procurement and cash flow.
– Chair progress meetings and report on programme, cost and risk to directors and clients.
– Own project health & safety and quality plans and ensure CDM compliance.
– Manage subcontractors, suppliers and site delivery teams.
– Review RAMS, design deliverables and commissioning documentation.
– Manage risk, change control, contractual correspondence and project close-out.
– Ensure DNO/TO adoption, connection and compliance requirements are met.
ESSENTIAL NETWORK ACCREDITATION
Applicants must hold current authorisation and/or demonstrable delivery experience on at least ONE of the following distribution or transmission networks:
– Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN)
– UK Power Networks (UKPN)
– National Grid Electricity Distribution (NGED)
– National Grid (NG)
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
– Demonstrable project delivery experience on at least one of SSEN, UKPN, NGED or NG.
– Degree or HNC/HND in electrical engineering or a related discipline.
– SMSTS and CSCS (manager / professionally qualified person) card.
– APM / PRINCE2 and NEC/JCT contract awareness desirable.
– Full UK driving licence.
EXPERIENCE
– Proven track record managing HV substation projects to time, cost and quality.
– Commercial and contractual awareness (NEC / JCT forms of contract).
– Experience coordinating multi-disciplinary design, civil and electrical works.
SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES
– Strong programme, commercial and stakeholder management.
– Sound technical understanding of HV substation plant and systems.
– Confident client-facing communication and reporting.
– Effective leadership of site and supply-chain teams.
Pay: £40,000.00-£80,000.00 per year
