Deputy Head of Electrics
The Deputy Head of Electrics will assist the Heads of Department and Technical & Buildings Manager with the day to day running of the theatre from a technical perspective and will report to the Head of Electrics. You will assist with get-ins, fit-ups and get-outs of new productions and visiting events when they occur, as well as assisting with the upkeep of the theatre.
This is an exciting opportunity to get stuck into the substantial task of renewing and improving the Piccadilly theatre, as part of Piccadilly Technical, the theatre’s in-house Tech team. The task of transforming the Piccadilly is a years-long vision, turning it into world-class venue which is really fit to support giant productions for decades to come. We have come some way on that journey already, but there is still much work to do. Currently hosting Moulin Rouge! The Musical, for the duration of this production, tech departments from the production are responsible for the running of performances each night, while the purpose of Piccadilly Technical is to be the guardians of the theatre. The essence of the role of Deputy Head of Electrics is in supporting the Head of Electrics to deliver on a wide range of tasks and disciplines. This includes planning and executing infrastructure projects, providing production with the best technical support, managing the day-to-day running of the theatre, overseeing the maintenance of electrical, Fire & Security, HVAC and BMS systems, liaising with contractors and overseeing PPM visits, whilst also ensuring the building is always safe and compliant.
You will be working in a fast-paced environment, with no two days the same. There will be opportunities to support work across our West End estate of theatres. This role involves regular evening and weekend work.
