Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate Activities Co-ordinator to join our dedicated team in enhancing the quality of life for residents in a care home setting. This vital role involves planning, organizing, and facilitating engaging activities tailored to the interests and needs of the residents, including those with dementia and Alzheimer’s. Your energy and creativity will help foster a lively, inclusive environment where residents feel valued, stimulated, and connected. The ideal candidate will bring a genuine passion for care and excellent communication skills to build meaningful relationships with residents and their families.
Duties
- Develop and implement a diverse calendar of activities that promote social interaction, mental stimulation, physical movement, and emotional well-being for residents.
- Personalize activities to accommodate individual preferences, abilities, and care requirements, including specialized dementia and Alzheimer’s care programs.
- Lead engaging group activities such as arts and crafts, music sessions, games, outings, and themed events that encourage participation.
- Collaborate closely with care staff to ensure activities align with residents’ health plans and safety protocols.
- Foster a warm, welcoming atmosphere by building strong relationships with residents to understand their interests and histories.
- Monitor residents’ responses to activities and adjust plans accordingly to maximize enjoyment and engagement.
- Maintain accurate records of participation, activity feedback, and resident progress for reporting purposes.
Skills
- Proven experience in assisted living or nursing home environments with a focus on senior care.
- Strong understanding of dementia care principles and Alzheimer’s disease management.
- Excellent communication skills to connect effectively with residents, families, and team members.
- Creative planning abilities to design stimulating activities that cater to diverse needs.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating seamlessly within a multidisciplinary team.
- Compassionate attitude with a genuine interest in enhancing residents’ quality of life through meaningful engagement.
- Knowledge of caregiving best practices related to senior care settings is highly desirable.
