Pre-Construction Manager
Location: Northampton
BMH Scaffolding is looking for an ambitious and experienced Pre-Construction Manager to lead our pre-construction function and play a key role in the future growth of the business. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to make a real impact, with the potential for a long-term progression pathway into a Directorship position.
You will manage scaffolding projects from initial tender through to operational handover, working closely with clients, designers, commercial teams, and operational staff to ensure projects are planned, priced, and delivered successfully.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage scaffolding projects from tender stage through to operational handover.
- Prepare estimates, tenders, and commercial proposals.
- Review drawings and develop practical, cost-effective access solutions.
- Coordinate scaffold designs with engineers, clients, and project teams.
- Carry out site surveys and assess project requirements.
- Develop project programmes, logistics plans, and resource schedules.
- Support business development and build strong client relationships.
- Attend client meetings, tender interviews, and pre-start meetings.
- Identify new business opportunities and support company growth.
- Ensure smooth handover of projects to operational teams.
- Produce handover packs including drawings, cost information, and programmes.
- Ensure compliance with TG20, NASC guidance, and current health and safety regulations.
- Support value engineering initiatives and cost-effective scaffold solutions.
- Liaise with commercial and operational teams throughout the pre-construction process.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience within the scaffolding industry.
- Experience in estimating, tendering, and pre-construction management.
- Strong understanding of scaffolding design principles and access solutions.
- Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
- Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
- A proactive and solution-focused approach.
- Scaffold design qualifications would be advantageous but are not essential.
