About the role
As SPACE’s fundraiser, you’ll lead our community fundraising, partnerships and individual giving programme.
This is a varied and hands-on role. One day you might be meeting a local business, the next planning our Football Tournament or supporting a school fundraising challenge. Alongside delivering fundraising events and campaigns, you’ll identify new opportunities, build strong relationships and help shape the future of fundraising at SPACE.
Working closely with the Senior Manager – Marketing & Engagement and our Marketing and Communications Coordinator, you’ll play a key role in helping us reach and support even more families.
Hours: 30 hours per week
Location: Hybrid, with home working, regular attendance at our Hertfordshire base and occasional travel across Hertfordshire. Please note that our Hertfordshire base is expected to relocate within the county during the coming year.
Salary: £34,000 FTE (30 hours a week £27,200 actual salary)
Closing date: Sunday 16th August 2026 (however we may close this earlier)
Note this is a 1 year fixed term contract with the intention to extend.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and grow community fundraising opportunities, inspiring individuals, schools, businesses and community organisations to support SPACE Hertfordshire.
- Build and develop relationships with local businesses, corporate partners and community organisations, securing financial support, sponsorship, volunteering and in-kind donations.
- Develop opportunities for individual giving, challenge events and supporter-led fundraising.
- Plan, deliver and evaluate fundraising events and campaigns, including initiatives such as the Football Tournament, Great Big Walk for Herts and Coffee Mornings.
- Recruit, support and steward fundraisers, fundraising volunteers and supporters, ensuring an excellent supporter experience and encouraging long-term involvement.
- Identify new fundraising opportunities through networking, relationship building and community engagement.
- Monitor fundraising income, budgets and agreed targets, maintaining an active pipeline of opportunities and reporting on progress.
- Work collaboratively with the Marketing and Communications Coordinator and colleagues across the charity to develop engaging fundraising campaigns, maximise opportunities and share the impact of SPACE’s work.
- Represent SPACE at networking events, business meetings and community events across Hertfordshire.
- Ensure all fundraising activity complies with relevant legislation, fundraising best practice and the charity’s values.
About you:
You’ll be someone who:
- Has experience in fundraising, partnerships, business development, account management or community engagement.
- Enjoys building relationships and networking with a wide range of people.
- Is confident organising events and managing projects from start to finish.
- Can spot opportunities and turn ideas into action.
- Is organised, proactive and able to manage multiple priorities.
- Is self-motivated, works well independently and enjoys being part of a collaborative team.
- Is confident approaching new people and isn’t afraid to pick up the phone, attend networking events or ask for make the ask.
- Has a flexible approach to working hours, recognising that some evening and weekend work will be required.
- Holds a full UK driving licence and has access to a vehicle.
- Shares our passion for supporting neurodivergent children, young people and their families.
