Diamond Trucks is seeking an organised and proactive Workshop Controller to join our Warrington team.
Reporting to the Aftersales Director, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the workshop. Working closely with the Workshop Supervisor, Service Administration team and Technicians, you will be responsible for controlling workshop activity, managing customer communications, monitoring job progress and ensuring work is completed efficiently, profitably and to the highest standards.
You will act as the primary point of contact for customers regarding estimates, quotations and repair updates, while ensuring workshop productivity and customer expectations are effectively managed throughout the repair process.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Workshop Supervisor to plan and prioritise workshop activity.
- Liaise with customers regarding estimates, quotations, work authorisation and progress updates.
- Ensure customer-approved costs are accurately recorded and communicated internally.
- Monitor technician productivity and job progress, identifying and addressing delays or deviations from agreed timescales.
- Maintain effective control of workshop jobs from booking through to completion and invoicing.
- Ensure parts and labour are correctly allocated and recorded on all job cards.
- Review completed job cards to ensure accuracy and compliance with company procedures.
- Monitor and manage Work in Progress (WIP) to maintain efficiency and profitability.
- Support the Service Administration and Warranty teams by ensuring completed jobs are correctly prepared for invoicing.
- Drive workshop performance through effective labour utilisation and identification of additional sales opportunities.
- Assist in maintaining high standards of health and safety throughout the workshop.
- Build strong working relationships with customers and colleagues to deliver an excellent customer experience.
About You
- Previous experience in a Workshop Controller, Service Advisor or similar aftersales role.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced commercial vehicle environment.
- Good understanding of workshop processes, labour control and job costing.
- Customer-focused with a proactive approach to problem solving.
- Confident using workshop management systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to prioritise workloads and manage multiple tasks effectively.
