Job Overview
We are seeking a friendly, professional and patient-focused Dental Hygienist to join our team every Saturday on a self-employed basis.
The successful candidate will provide high-quality dental hygiene and periodontal care while working independently without dedicated chairside nurse support. Other members of the dental team will be present within the practice and available to provide support when required.
This position offers the opportunity to gradually develop and grow a Saturday patient list within an established private clinic. Please note that a full diary cannot be guaranteed from the outset.
Position Details
- Every Saturday
- Working hours: 8:30am–4:30pm
- First patient at 9:00am
- Last patient finishes at 4:00pm
- 45-minute lunch break
- Self-employed position
- Percentage-based remuneration starting from 30% of gross hygiene revenue
- A higher percentage may be offered according to experience
- No dedicated chairside nurse support
- Other members of the dental team will be present within the practice
- Opportunity to gradually develop and grow a Saturday patient list
Duties
- Provide high-quality dental hygiene and periodontal treatments
- Carry out scaling, polishing and other treatments within your professional scope of practice
- Assess and monitor patients’ periodontal and general oral health
- Educate patients on oral hygiene, prevention and long-term maintenance
- Provide personalised recommendations based on each patient’s individual needs
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive clinical records
- Follow current infection prevention and decontamination procedures
- Build positive and long-lasting relationships with patients
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with the wider dental team
- Refer patients appropriately when treatment falls outside your scope of practice
Requirements
- Qualified and registered with the General Dental Council as a Dental Hygienist
- Appropriate and current professional indemnity
- Right to work in the UK
- Excellent clinical and communication skills
- Confident working without dedicated chairside nurse support
- Able to work safely and efficiently both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Reliable, caring and patient-focused
- Committed to maintaining high standards of clinical care and infection control
Previous experience in private dentistry is preferred. However, confident newly qualified hygienists are also welcome to apply.
