Summary
Position: Site Supervisor – Scrap metal processing facility.
Location: Florida Close, Burslem, Stoke on Trent.
Salary: £16.30p/h
Working Hours: Monday to Friday 07:00 – 17:00
Every other Saturday 07:00 – 12:00.
Reporting to the Site Manager, the primary role of the Site Supervisor is to successfully assist in the efficient and safe running of the Florida Close Depot activities. The role also includes supervising a team of yard operatives, processing of ferrous and non-ferrous materials, operating a busy weighbridge, grading, sorting and processing of scrap metal and construction waste.
Key responsibilities and duties
· Ensure that the highest level of housekeeping is maintained for the Florida Depot along with 2 compound areas.
· Ensure that traffic flow on site is safe and efficient so that vehicles can access and egress site in a timely manner.
· Assist in recurring site inspections and safety checks.
· Create a positive and safety minded culture within the team.
· Ensure yard operatives are completing the tasks that they are assigned.
· Grading of non-ferrous scrap metal (using handheld electronic device)
· Assist the Site Manager with the control of stock to ensure that there is no build up of material.
· Ensure that any non-compliant wastes are identified, recorded, and processed in line with company policy.
· Be adaptable and flexible within the team- which could involve using mobile plant machinery e.g. FLT, loading shovel and 360 grab.
Key Skills
· Previous experience in a similar role/environment is essential.
· Experience using mobile plant machinery e.g. FLT, loading shovel and 360 grab.
· Qualification in occupational health and safety, such as IOSH is preferable.
· Understand the application of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and other legislation relevant to the Companies business.
· Professional in their approach to dealing with issues and employees.
· Appreciation of confidentiality and discretion.
· Strong organisational skills with attention to detail and a methodical approach.
· The ability to communicate clearly and confidently with a range of people face-to-face.
· Strong teamwork skills are essential.
