This is a very rewarding position, working alongside an experienced childcare team.
The ideal candidate should interact well with children, be patient, have imagination, common sense and be well organised, with a genuine interest in child development. They will assist in the collection of up to 56 children after school to bring them to the Centre, help in snack preparation and liaise with the wider staff team in organising activities for the children, to ensure the youngsters have the best outcome and experience.
Working hours will be between 2.00pm and 6.00pm during term time, with additional hours required during Inset days and school holidays (apart from Christmas and New Year), as the Centre provides full day cover during these times.
The service is looking for casual / relief workers to ensure the smooth running of the childcare facility. For the successful person, this may lead to a permanent position.
Childcare qualifications are preferable (HNC, SVQ3 or equivalent) but not essential, but the successful candidate will be committed to working towards this qualification. Extensive short course training is available. Vetting procedures are required through Protection of Vulnerable Groups scheme. Registration with the Scottish Social Services Council will be required after induction.
Knowledge of SHANARRI, GIRFEC and the Play Principles would be an advantage.
