Priory Project Ltd are looking for a Senior Support Worker to join our team.
Priory Project Ltd is a small residential care home based in Milford Haven. We are a charity providing care and support to adults with learning disabilities within their own home environment.
We are looking for an experienced, caring and motivated Senior Support Worker to provide leadership on shift and support the Deputy Manager in maintaining high standards of person-centred care.
This is a hands-on role. You will work directly alongside Support Workers and the people living at Priory House, while providing day-to-day leadership, guidance and oversight of practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead shifts, allocate workloads and provide clear direction to the staff team.
- Support staff to deliver high-quality, person-centred care which promotes choice, independence and positive outcomes.
- Monitor resident wellbeing and promptly escalate any changes or concerns.
- Complete and contribute to support plan reviews and activity-specific risk assessments.
- Promote meaningful activities, community involvement and positive risk-taking.
- Respond appropriately to incidents and ensure accurate recording, reporting and escalation.
- Promote high standards of professional and person-centred recording.
- Mentor and support Support Workers and assist with the induction of new staff.
- Complete delegated observations, competency assessments and medication competencies.
- Provide day-to-day coaching and guidance, identifying and escalating any concerns regarding staff practice.
- Monitor key worker responsibilities and the completion of daily and monthly documentation.
- Complete delegated audits and quality checks and support the review of incidents and lessons learned.
- Promote safe medication practice and compliance with policies and procedures.
- Assist with recruitment and interviews where required.
- Work closely with the Deputy Manager and Registered Manager, escalating matters appropriately.
About You
We are looking for someone who is caring, approachable and genuinely person-centred, with the confidence to lead and support others.
You should be organised, have good communication and recording skills, be able to make appropriate decisions on shift and understand when matters need to be escalated to management.
A full driving licence is essential for this role, as you will be required to support individuals to access activities, appointments and opportunities within the community.
You will work in accordance with the Code of Professional Practice for Social Care and will be expected to complete all mandatory and role-specific training.
Applicants should hold, or be willing to work towards, a Level 3 Health and Social Care qualification appropriate to the role.
The role requires flexibility to meet the needs of the people we support and the service. Following successful completion of probation, the Senior Support Worker will also participate in the management on-call rota.
