Parent & Toddler / Preschool Gymnastics Coach Overview
Join our friendly and creative team as a Parent & Toddler / Preschool Gymnastics Coach, delivering fun, themed daytime weekday classes for children aged 4 months to 5 years and their parents or carers.
This rewarding role is all about creating memorable early experiences through movement, music, play and gymnastics. You’ll lead engaging sessions designed to support children’s physical, social and emotional development, while helping parents and carers feel confident and involved in their child’s learning.
Our classes use exciting weekly themes to encourage children to explore movement, develop coordination and balance, build confidence and most importantly, have fun. From babies taking their first steps into movement to preschoolers developing their gymnastics skills, you’ll help create a warm, welcoming environment where every child can thrive.
Duties
- Plan and deliver fun, engaging and age-appropriate themed gymnastics sessions for children aged 4 months to 5 years
- Adapt activities to suit different ages, developmental stages and abilities
- Lead sessions incorporating gymnastics, movement, music, imaginative play and themed activities
- Encourage parents and carers to actively participate and support their child throughout the session
- Demonstrate safe and appropriate gymnastics movements, exercises and activities
- Create a positive, welcoming and inclusive environment where children feel confident to explore and try new things
- Support children’s physical development, including balance, coordination, strength, flexibility, spatial awareness and gross motor skills
- Use creative themes, stories, songs and games to keep young children engaged and excited to participate
- Provide encouragement and positive feedback to children and their parents/carers
- Maintain a safe, clean and well-organised coaching environment
- Set up, use and pack away equipment safely and efficiently
- Build positive relationships with families and provide a friendly, professional experience
- Observe children’s progress and adapt activities to meet their individual needs
- Work as part of the wider coaching team to develop new themes, activities and class ideas
Skills & Experience
- Experience working with babies, toddlers, preschool children or young children in a coaching, teaching, childcare, gymnastics, dance, movement or similar environment
- A genuine passion for working with young children and supporting their development
- Confident and enthusiastic personality with the ability to engage both children and adults
- Strong communication skills and the ability to give clear, friendly instructions to parents and carers
- Creative and imaginative approach to delivering themed sessions
- Understanding of age-appropriate physical development and the needs of young children
- Ability to adapt activities for different ages, confidence levels and abilities
- Knowledge of safe coaching practices and the safe use of gymnastics equipment
- Patient, warm and encouraging approach
- Reliable, organised and able to work independently as well as part of a team
- Comfortable leading energetic, interactive sessions in front of groups
- Commitment to creating a safe, inclusive and positive environment for every child and family
The Role
This is a daytime weekday role (10am-3pm) , ideal for someone who loves working with young children and wants to combine their passion for movement, gymnastics and creativity.
You’ll play an important role in creating those first positive experiences of gymnastics and physical activity — helping little ones build confidence, independence and physical skills while giving parents and carers an opportunity to enjoy quality time with their children.
