About the Role:
We’re looking for an experienced and confident Bookkeeper to join our team at Mills Milk – an established and growing Scottish business with an annual turnover of around £25m.
This is a key role for someone who is highly organised, commercially aware and confident managing the day-to-day financial operations of a busy business. You’ll work across bookkeeping, accounts and payroll, while also providing our Directors with accurate, up-to-date financial information when needed.
Strong practical experience with Sage Accounting and Sage Payroll is essential, along with a keen eye for detail and the confidence to manage financial information accurately and efficiently.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Managing day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting processes, making sure purchases/payments are recorded correctly
- Processing purchase and sales invoices, payments and receipts
- Bank reconciliations and maintaining accurate accounting records
- Managing accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Reviewing VAT returns and supporting month-end processes
- Maintaining accurate ledgers and resolving discrepancies
- Assuring payroll department to ensure records, deductions and payments are accurate and recorded on Sage
- Supporting the directors with monthly management information
- Assisting with year-end accounts and providing information to external accountants/auditors when required
- Maintaining a high level of confidentiality and accuracy at all times
The Ideal Candidate:
We’re looking for someone who is confident, experienced and comfortable taking ownership of their work. Ideally, you’ll have:
- Availability to work part-time, around 24 hours per week
- Ability to work office-based at our HQ in Largs
- Proven bookkeeping experience, ideally within a medium-to-large business
- Strong, hands-on experience with Sage Accounting and Sage Payroll
- A good understanding of payroll processes and statutory requirements
- Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
- The ability to work independently and manage your own workload
- Experience working with high transaction volumes and/or within a business with a turnover of £10m+ would be advantageous
