Overview
We are seeking a motivated and versatile General Builder/Labourer to join our dynamic construction team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to be involved in a wide range of building projects, from basic site preparation to more specialized tasks. As a key team member, you will contribute to the successful completion of construction projects by performing essential manual tasks, assisting skilled tradespeople, and ensuring safety and efficiency on site. This position is paid and ideal for individuals eager to develop their skills across multiple trades within the construction industry.
Responsibilities
- Assist with general site preparation, including clearing sites and setting up work areas
- Perform manual tasks such as lifting, moving materials, and cleaning work zones to maintain a safe environment
- Support carpentry, roofing, masonry, plumbing, and electrical work as directed by supervisors
- Operate hand tools and power tools safely and effectively to carry out various construction activities
- Aid in fabrication tasks, including cutting, shaping, and assembling materials on-site
- Assist with construction painting, sealing, and finishing tasks to meet project specifications
- Follow all safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE) consistently to ensure a secure work environment
Requirements
- Basic experience with hand tools and power tools used in construction settings
- Willingness to learn new skills across multiple trades such as carpentry, roofing, masonry, plumbing, welding, electrical work, and fabrication
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including lifting heavy materials and standing for extended periods
- Strong teamwork ethic with good communication skills
- Reliable attendance and punctuality are essential for project success
- Prior experience in construction or labouring roles is a plus but not mandatory; training will be provided for suitable candidates
