Little Feet Nursery already has an excellent reputation and we're growing! We're looking for passionate and dedicated Room Leaders to join our team as we move into our purpose-built, newly renovated nursery on Callywhite Lane, Dronfield.
This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of an exciting period of expansion, helping to shape our new environment and lead a room within a supportive, child-centred nursery.
We have four Room Leader positions available:
- Babies (3–16 months)
- Toddlers (17–24 months)
- Older Toddlers (25–36 months)
- Pre-School (37 months+)
About the Role
As a Room Leader, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day running of your room, ensuring the highest standards of care, learning and development are consistently delivered. You will inspire and support your team while creating a warm, stimulating and nurturing environment where every child can thrive.
This is a leadership role with the opportunity to make a real impact as we establish our brand-new nursery setting.
Hours: Ideally 40 hours per week (lunch and breaks paid)
Start Date: September 2026
Pay: £14.10 per hour
What We're Looking For:
Essential:
- Minimum Level 2 qualification in Childcare (Level 3 + desirable)
- At least 2 years' experience working within a nursery setting
- Excellent knowledge of the EYFS
- Confident and professional
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to lead and motivate a team
- Kind, caring and fun approach to working with children
- Forward-thinking with a positive attitude
- Passionate about providing outstanding childcare and early education
- Have strong knowledge of planning, facilitation and assessment for children
- Hold a multi-agency approach to childcare ensuring that we work together with the appropriate external agencies and parents.
- Be flexible with working hours and shift patterns
- Hold, or be willing to gain a food hygiene certificate
- Be willing to continue their professional development
- Have a solid understanding of Safeguarding, Prevent, British Values and cultural capital
- Be able to use initiative, be proactive and work as a team member
- Be willing to commit to nursery for a period to ensure stability and reassurance for our children
Desirable:
- Previous experience in a leadership or management role within an early years setting.
Your Responsibilities
- Lead and manage your designated room on a daily basis.
- To provide a high standard of care for all our children in the setting, taking into account the physical, social, emotional and cognitive development.
- Plan and provide engaging learning experiences in line with the EYFS.
- Support, mentor and motivate room staff.
- Build strong relationships with children, families and colleagues.
- Maintain accurate observations and records of children's development.
- Ensure the room remains safe, welcoming and well organised.
- Contribute ideas to help shape and develop our exciting new nursery.
- To implement daily routines
- Plan and deliver exciting, interesting and informative activities to the children in your room
- Assess key children using tapestry online portal
- Create strong relationships with parents
- Liaise with the DSL where necessary
- Attend staff meetings (every other month)
- Undertake child reports, parent meetings and assess children against in-house milestones
- Have a holistic approach to the nurture and care of all children in nursery irrespective of culture, race, background or stage of development
- Be professional at all times both in and out of nursery
- Respect confidentiality
- Adhere to all nurseries policies and procedures
