Our dedicated Housing Team have a strong track record of helping customers and partners prevent homelessness across our districts, and we are now looking for a full time Housing & Benefit Advisor to make a real difference.
In this role you will provide provide tailored support to individuals and families in temporary accommodation (TA) or at risk of losing their tenancies. The postholder will hold a caseload and work with those households in order to support them sustain their tenancy and obtain suitable positive solutions to their homelessness.
This role requires strong decision-making, risk awareness, and a solid understanding of housing legislation and tenancies in order to support vulnerable households whilst also protecting revenue streams.
You will ensure that residents fully understand their responsibilities to adhere to their licence conditions, pay their accommodation charges and the consequences of non-payment and non-compliance.
The work undertaken by the postholder directly influences and impacts the effectiveness and workload of multiple teams to include Housing Management, Income Officers, Move On Officers, Benefits, Revenues, Early Help, Finance, Legal Services, Safeguarding, Customers Services and many external support agencies.
This role operates in demanding and sometimes challenging conditions, including regular visits to TA properties which demand adherence to lone working protocols. It requires working to tight deadlines with high workloads and can be emotionally challenging particularly when working with complex and vulnerable residents and requires resilience and self-awareness from the post holder.
