Job Description:
Role: Ward Assistant
Location: Newcastle under lyme
Hours: 9am–7pm, 4 days on / 4 days off (including weekends)
Pay: £12.71 per hour
Start Date: Immediate Starts Available
An excellent opportunity has arisen for Ward Assistants to join a well‑known healthcare provider in Newcastle under lyme. This Ward Assistant position is ideal for individuals who enjoy working in a fast‑paced, patient‑focused environment and take pride in delivering high‑quality support across the ward.
If you have experience in food service, catering, hospitality or similar — or are looking to develop your skills as a Ward Assistant — this role offers stability, training and a supportive team environment.

The Role:
- Taking patient meal orders using an electronic ordering system
- Serving meals and ensuring patients receive the correct items
- Collecting and washing crockery and cutlery after meals
- Maintaining high standards of hygiene and cleanliness in line with Health & Safety regulations
- Carrying out deep cleaning and detailed cleaning tasks
- Responding to cleaning needs throughout the ward
- Supporting safe and efficient food service for patients
The Requirements:
- Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment
- Experience in food service, catering or hospitality (desirable but not essential)
- Positive, approachable attitude and strong teamwork skills
- Level 1 Food Hygiene qualification or willingness to obtain one
