Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Assistant to support our catering and hospitality services. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with meal preparation, food safety, and serving duties within a busy tearoom environment and must be available weekends and occasional evenings. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a catering student to gain practical experience in a professional kitchen setting or a great opportunity for a person looking for part time hours working as part of a friendly team committed to delivering high-quality service. Prior restaurant or catering experience is advantageous but not essential, as training will be provided.
Duties
- Assist with food preparation and meal assembly in accordance with health and safety standards
- Support the kitchen team in maintaining cleanliness and organisation of work areas
- Follow food safety protocols during all stages of food handling and preparation
- Assist with stock replenishment and inventory checks as needed
- Support catering events by preparing ingredients and assisting with event setup
Skills
- Previous experience in catering, cooking, or restaurant environments is desirable
- Basic knowledge of food preparation and kitchen safety procedures
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure
- Ability to work well within a team and follow instructions accurately
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities during busy service periods
