United Worldwide Logistics is looking for owner drivers with their own operator's licence to run regular time-critical and specialist work from our Pencoed operation. Artic work comes with our trailers supplied. Rigid and tipper work runs on your own bodywork.
About us
We are a specialist freight forwarder and express carrier based in Pencoed, Bridgend. We move time-critical, high-value and out-of-gauge freight for manufacturers and engineering businesses across the UK, Europe and worldwide, backed by a 160,000 sq ft warehouse and our own fleet. Our customers come to us when a shipment cannot be late and cannot be damaged, which is why we hold FORS Gold and ISO 9001 and have won the BIFA Extra Mile Award twice.
That standard is the whole business, so we are selective about who runs our work. In return, our rates reflect the service rather than the market floor.
The work
- Time-critical and same-day movements across the UK and into Europe
- Dedicated customer distribution on planned, repeating runs
- Specialist and project freight, including out-of-gauge, ADR and crane-offload work
- Container and airfreight collections and deliveries linked to our forwarding operation
- Dedicated bulk tipper work on contract traffic in South Wales
- Booked, planned volume rather than day-to-day spot work
What you need
- Your own vehicle: tractor unit, rigid or tipper, Euro 6, well maintained and presenting properly on customer sites
- A valid standard national or standard international operator's licence with a nominated CPC-qualified Transport Manager
- Category C or C+E licence as applicable, valid Driver CPC and digital tachograph card
- Motor insurance for hire and reward, goods in transit cover to industry standard, public liability, and cover for hauling third-party trailers on artic work
- Employer's liability cover if you employ drivers
- Current MOT, PMI schedule and maintenance records, produced as part of our subcontractor approval
- FORS-standard safety equipment for the work undertaken, including DVS compliance for London
- Full compliance with drivers' hours, WTD and tachograph rules
- ADR and DGSA arrangements where the traffic requires it
- The reliability and presentation to turn up on time, every time, on freight that cannot fail
