Zen Educate is looking for resilient, compassionate, and proactive Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistants to support our partner schools across the beautiful county of Wiltshire.
We have a variety of full-time, part-time, and flexible daily supply roles available starting immediately and in the New Year. Whether you are an experienced SEN professional or looking to transition your skills from a care or youth work background, we want to hear from you.
The Opportunities: Locations & Settings
We are currently supporting specialist provisions and resource bases in several key hubs across Wiltshire. You can choose to work in your local area or travel to nearby towns:
- West Wiltshire: Trowbridge & Devizes
- North Wiltshire: Chippenham & Calne
- South Wiltshire: Salisbury
Our partner schools cater to a wide range of needs, including Autism (ASD), Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH), and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD). We match your specific skills and preferences to the right school environment.
Your Role: Impacting Lives Every Day
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be the backbone of the classroom, providing essential support to students who face barriers to learning. Your day-to-day will involve:
- 1:1 Support: Working closely with specific students to help them stay engaged and reach their EHCP targets.
- Small Group Intervention: Leading sensory or literacy/numeracy activities designed by the class teacher.
- Behaviour Management: Using de-escalation techniques and positive reinforcement to create a safe learning space.
- Communication Support: Utilising tools like Makaton, PECS, or visual timetables to help students express themselves.
- Personal Care: Providing physical and personal care support for students with more complex disabilities (where required).
Who We Are Looking For
We value attitude and empathy as much as experience. We are looking for:
- Experienced TAs: Those with a proven track record in SEN schools or mainstream resource bases.
- Care & Youth Workers: Individuals with a background in residential care, mental health support, or youth mentoring who want to move into education.
- Graduates: Particularly those in Psychology or Education looking for hands-on experience before further study.
- Reliability: People who are committed to providing consistency for vulnerable children.
