As a Heating Engineer, you will be at the forefront of our renewable energy installations across domestic and commercial projects. This role focuses on installing Air Source Heat Pumps, unvented hot water cylinders, underfloor heating (UFH) systems, radiator upgrades, and full central heating pipework alterations. The ideal candidate will be a skilled, quality-driven installer, ideally time-served with an NVQ Level 3, who is passionate about clean energy. While a Level 3 Heat Pump qualification is preferred, full industry training will be provided for the right candidate looking to transition into renewables.
Objectives of the Role
- Renewable Heating Delivery: Install Air Source Heat Pumps, unvented hot water cylinders, and associated low-carbon heating systems to the highest technical standards.
- System Upgrades & UFH: Complete central heating system overhauls, including radiator sizing upgrades, full system pipework modifications, and underfloor heating installations.
- Quality & Compliance: Execute installations in full compliance with MCS standards, Building Regulations, and company quality procedures.
- Operational Excellence: Work efficiently alongside our project coordinators and site teams to complete projects on time and to our award-winning 5-star standard.
- Customer Service: Deliver exceptional, professional customer service while working in client homes and commercial sites.
Daily and Monthly Responsibilities
- Carry out the mechanical installation of domestic Heat Pump systems.
- Install and commission unvented hot water cylinders and associated safety controls.
- Lay and connect underfloor heating (UFH) systems and manifold setups.
- Perform heating pipework alterations, system flushing, radiator upgrades, and valve installations optimised for low-temperature heating.
- Collaborate closely with our electrical engineers and project coordinators to ensure seamless project handovers.
- Maintain complete records of installation procedures, parts used, commissioning sheets, and inventory allocations.
- Maintain effective daily communication with the office team, ensuring job progress, photos, and commissioning notes are promptly updated on the CRM system.
- Adhere strictly to health and safety regulations, participating in regular site safety checks and tool-box talks.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
Required:
- Ideally time-served with an NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing and Heating (or equivalent qualification/experience).
- Valid G3 Unvented Hot Water qualification.
- Proven track record in heating system installations, pipework alterations, radiator upgrades, and underfloor heating.
- Full UK Driving License.
- Excellent communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and operate as part of a multi-disciplinary installation team.
Preferred / Beneficial:
- Level 3 Heat Pump qualification (Air Source / Ground Source) — Note: Full manufacturer and industry training will be provided for the right candidate.
- Previous experience as an ACS Gas Engineer looking to transition fully into renewables.
- Experience with other renewable technologies (e.g., Solar Thermal, Solar PV) or Air Conditioning / F-Gas systems (REFCOM).
- Experience in system design, heat loss calculations, or low-temperature heating setups.
