Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and organised Activities Coordinator to join our team in providing engaging and meaningful activities for residents in a care home setting. The ideal candidate will have experience in assisted living, nursing home environments, or senior care, with a particular focus on dementia and Alzheimer's care. This role offers an opportunity to enhance residents' quality of life through creative programme planning and personalised engagement, fostering a warm and supportive community atmosphere.
Duties
- Plan, organise, and facilitate a variety of recreational activities tailored to residents’ interests and needs, including those with dementia or Alzheimer's.
- Collaborate with care staff to develop personalised activity programmes that promote socialisation, mental stimulation, and physical well-being.
- Monitor residents’ responses to activities and adjust programmes accordingly to ensure maximum engagement and enjoyment.
- Maintain accurate records of activities undertaken and residents’ participation levels.
- Encourage participation from all residents, providing support and encouragement as needed.
- Organise special events and outings that enrich the residents’ experience outside the care environment.
- Foster a positive environment that promotes independence, dignity, and emotional well-being among residents.
Qualifications
- Experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or senior care environments is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of dementia care and Alzheimer’s care best practices is essential.
- Strong communication skills to effectively engage with residents, families, and team members.
- Compassionate approach with patience and understanding of the needs of older adults.
- Ability to organise activities independently whilst working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Previous caregiving or care home experience will be considered an advantage.
