JUNIOR CLERK OPPORTUNITY
We are seeking a motivated and organised Junior Clerk to join our busy and respected Barristers’ Chambers. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with administrative or legal sector experience who wishes to develop a long-term career in clerking.

About the role
- Active monitoring of emails to ensure that queries or questions are resolved quickly and in a professional manner.
- Proactively raising potential or actual problems and addressing them in an appropriate manner.
- Ensuring that all daily or routine administration tasks are completed fully and on time.
Administration
- Daily checking of court lists.
- To assist with incoming telephone calls, answering queries wherever possible and distributing calls accordingly.
- Providing accurate and timely responses to emails.
- Ensuring briefs and instructions are printed and delivered in good time.
- Provide other administrative support as requested and directed.
Fee management
- Responding in a timely manner to minor fee enquiries.
- Supporting the administration for billing of lower level work.
- Monitoring and recording incoming payments.
- Proactively recover outstanding fees from clients.
Case management
- Contacting clients and chasing papers that are required for cases.
- Assisting with case allocation and ensuring barristers’ diaries remain accurate and up to date.
- Processing amendments to hearing dates and case listings promptly.
About you
Experience and Knowledge
- Office administration processes.
- Using MS office applications in a business setting.
- Diary administration / arranging meetings for others.
- Producing written communications in a business setting.
- Organising own workload and prioritising tasks.
- Working as part of a team.
- Previous experience within barristers’ chambers, solicitors’ firms or legal administration is desirable.
Skills
- High levels of attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritise and to work to deadlines under pressure.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to appropriately deal with clients, barristers and colleagues in a professional manner.
- Excellent telephone manner and accurate written communication skills.
- Able to manage a number of tasks at the same time.
- Able to solve problems using logic and reason.
- Confident user of MS Word, Outlook and MS Excel.
- Able to work independently when needed.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: £21,157.50-£24,784.50 per year
