Overview
James Walker, Gourock is looking to recruit an experienced Quality Engineer (QC Inspection), the successful candidate will report directly to the Quality Engineering Supervisor and will be responsible for Quality and Inspection activities, ensuring product compliance to customer specifications and other business requirements. The QE will carry out department activities in accordance with defined processes and procedures and assist with the creation and upkeep of quality standards and systems across the business.
39 hours per week (Shifts in operation)
Day – Monday to Thursday 08:00-17:00 & Friday 08:00-13:00
Back – Monday to Thursday 11:30-21:45
Night – Monday to Thursday 21:45-08:00
Duties
- Operate an efficient 1st off, In Process, Final and Goods-In inspection process as per requirements
- Operation of CMM, Contour and Optical measurement equipment and conventional metrology
- Prepare and complete documentation as per customer and business requirements
- Liaise with production and other departments as required to ensure timely job completion
- Carry out in-house Calibration duties per schedule and process
- Participate in the implementation of the Nonconformity and Concession processes
- Control, quarantine and disposition of nonconforming product as required
- Liaise with other departments to communicate rejected materials and issues
- Data collection through ERP system and other mediums as required
- Establish and define best practice inspection per product as required
- Material testing and verification as required
- Shift work including Back, Night and cover for absence will be an essential part of this role
- Any other duties the company requires to be carried out.
Qualifications
- Minimum HNC in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent experience in a manufacturing / engineering role.
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings at all complexity levels.
- Experienced and competent in the use of modern metrology equipment e.g. CMM, optical, contour and surface measurement. CMM programming preferred.
- Experienced and competent in the use of a wide range of conventional metrology equipment (metric and imperial).
- Experience of Oil and Gas documentation systems and standards including ecommerce portals preferred.
- IT Literate with experience in using Excel, Word, Adobe Acrobat and ERP systems.
- Able to multi-task and juggle complex and competing demands, working to deadlines, maintaining strong focus and attention to detail at all times.
- Self-starter and motivated to succeed, working under own initiative with minimal supervision.
- Be able to work collaboratively with other team members and departments.
- Ability to communicate across all levels within the organisation.
- Good spoken and written communication skills and ability to follow instructions.
- Ability to react quickly and solve minor problems.
- Ability to complete accurate inspection documentation and records.

Pay: £34,000.00-£39,000.00 per year
