We are looking for an experienced Finance Manager to take ownership of day-to-day finance operations, financial controls and systems within a fast-paced business.
This is a hands-on role requiring someone who can manage the finance function effectively while improving processes, systems and the quality of financial information available to the business.
Key Responsibilities
● Own the day-to-day finance function and ensure accurate and timely financial information.
● Manage month-end processes and preparation of management accounts.
● Maintain strong balance sheet controls and reconciliations.
● Manage cash flow forecasting and working capital.
● Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable and credit control.
● Oversee payroll function.
● Manage and reconcile invoice finance facilities.
● Ensure Xero is maintained accurately and used effectively across the business.
● Improve finance systems, processes and automation.
● Produce meaningful management reporting and analysis for senior management.
● Support budgeting, forecasting and financial planning.
● Work closely with operational teams to improve financial controls and commercial performance.
● Support external accountants, auditors and other professional advisers as required.
Essential Experience
● Previous experience in a Finance Manager, Financial Controller or similar senior finance role.
● Strong practical experience using Xero.
● Invoice finance experience is essential, including facility reconciliations and understanding availability, funding and debtor movements.
● Strong management accounting and balance sheet reconciliation experience.
● Good understanding of cash flow and working capital management.
● Comfortable operating in a hands-on SME environment.
● Strong Excel and financial systems capability.
● Part-qualified, qualified by experience or fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
Desirable
● Previous experience within transport, haulage or logistics.
● Experience integrating or improving finance and operational systems.
● Experience with automation, reporting tools or data analysis.
● Experience working within a business using significant asset or vehicle finance.
The Person
We are looking for someone who combines strong accounting knowledge with a practical approach.
You should be comfortable getting into the detail, identifying where processes or numbers do not make sense and fixing the underlying problem rather than simply reporting it.
The right person will be confident working independently, managing competing priorities and communicating clearly with both finance and non-finance colleagues.
This role would particularly suit someone from an SME or owner-managed environment who enjoys improving how a finance function operates rather than working within a heavily departmentalised structure.
Pay: £50,000.00-£65,000.00 per year
Work Location: In person
