About the role
Balfour Beatty UKCS Living Places has an exciting opportunity for a Stores Coordinator to join our team based in Aylesbury.
This role will be key to supporting the smooth running of depot and stores operations, ensuring that plant, equipment, stock, PPE and consumables are effectively managed, maintained and available to support operational delivery.
As Stores Coordinator, you will act as a central point of contact for depot stores and yard activities, helping to maintain a safe, organised and compliant working environment. You will work closely with operational teams, suppliers, contractors and internal stakeholders to make sure materials and equipment are in place when needed, while supporting accurate stock control and efficient depot processes.
What you'll be doing
As a Stores Coordinator, your responsibilities will include:
- Coordinating and managing plant, equipment, materials and stock across operational workstreams.
- Ensuring stock management processes and administration are completed accurately and efficiently.
- Ordering, issuing and monitoring materials, PPE and consumables.
- Checking deliveries against advice notes, including quality, quantities and any damage.
- Liaising with suppliers regarding faulty, damaged or replacement stock.
- Supporting the hiring, acceptance and off-hiring of plant and equipment.
- Ensuring tools and equipment are appropriately managed, including calibration requirements.
- Maintaining high standards of housekeeping across the yard and stores areas.
- Supporting compliance activities within the depot, including routine facilities checks.
- Liaising with contractors in relation to facilities maintenance.
- Working with operational teams to ensure materials required for site are arranged and accessible.
- Loading and unloading service and delivery vehicles as required.
- Helping to ensure yard and stores access is controlled and limited to authorised personnel.
- Reviewing supply options to help support best value and continuous improvement.
- Supporting depot operations to remain safe, efficient and compliant at all times.
Who we're looking for
We are looking for someone who is organised, proactive and confident working in a busy depot or operational environment.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience in stock control, stores, depot, logistics, plant, materials or a similar operational role.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Good attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records.
- Confidence using IT systems to support stock management and administration.
- A quality-focused approach with a commitment to maintaining high standards.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work with operational teams, suppliers and contractors.
- A practical, hands-on approach and willingness to support depot activity where required.
- The ability to identify improvements and support more efficient ways of working.
- A good understanding of safe working practices.
It would also be beneficial if you have:
- Experience within the highways, construction, industrial or depot operations environment.
- Knowledge of 5S principles.
- Telehandler or forklift truck experience or training.
- Experience working within an environmentally permitted facility.
