A dedicated all age special needs school in Birmingham are seeking a SEND Teaching / Learning Support Assistant to join their amazing team, delivering structured interventions and providing targeted support for students with significant SEND needs.
This isn’t just a classroom assistant role — it’s a meaningful chance to help some of the most vulnerable learners build confidence, regulate emotions, and access learning on their terms.
What You’ll Do
- Deliver structured one-to-one and small group interventions for students with significant SEND needs, including ASD, SEMH, and cognition and learning challenges.
- Work closely with the Resource Base Lead and SENCO to implement personalised learning and behaviour plans.
- Support students’ emotional regulation and wellbeing using appropriate strategies (e.g., sensory breaks, visuals, social stories).
- Monitor, record, and report on student progress, adapting interventions as needed.
- Help facilitate successful integration into mainstream lessons where appropriate.
- Gain valuable hands-on experience for careers in educational psychology, therapy, or specialist SEND education.

- A graduate (psychology, education, or any subject) with a passion for working with young people who have complex needs.
- Someone who is empathetic, patient, and ready to engage with students facing significant challenges.
- A strong communicator who can build trust and connection with learners and colleagues.
- A proactive, adaptable team player, eager to learn and contribute.
- Interested in developing a career in special educational needs, alternative provision, educational psychology, or therapeutic support.
