Junior Construction Buyer - - Must have Construction Experience
Job Title: Junior Project Buyer
JOB PURPOSE
Formation Design & Build Ltd is an established Design & Build Main Contractor delivering high-quality residential, commercial and mixed-use developments throughout London and the South East.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and ambitious Junior Project Buyer to join our growing Procurement Team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with construction buying experience who is looking to develop their career within a fast-paced and expanding main contractor.
The successful candidate will work closely with Project Managers, Quantity Surveyors, Design Managers, Programme Managers, Site Teams and Suppliers to ensure materials are procured efficiently and delivered on time.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Procurement
- Source quotations from approved suppliers.
- Raise purchase orders accurately and promptly.
- Procure materials, plant and consumables for multiple live projects.
- Monitor delivery schedules to ensure materials arrive in line with project programmes.
- Follow up outstanding quotations and deliveries.
- Assist with identifying cost-effective suppliers and products.
- Maintain accurate procurement records.
Project Support
- Liaise daily with Project Managers, Site Managers and Quantity Surveyors.
- Assist with procurement planning for upcoming project activities.
- Resolve supplier and delivery issues quickly.
- Support Design Managers by ensuring approved materials are ordered promptly.
Site Visits
- Visit construction sites regularly.
- Carry out stock checks and monitor material usage.
- Identify shortages before they impact programme.
- Work alongside Site Managers to understand future procurement requirements.
Supplier Relationships
- Build positive relationships with suppliers.
- Monitor supplier performance.
- Assist in resolving invoice and delivery queries.
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
Essential
- 2-4 years' experience in construction procurement or buying.
- Previous experience within construction, builders' merchants or a contractor.
- Good understanding of construction materials.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills.
- Good IT skills including Microsoft Office. Excel
Desirable
- Previous experience with a Main Contractor.
- Experience on residential or commercial construction projects.
- Working towards CIPS.

Pay: £35,000.00-£40,000.00 per year
