Thomas Operations (UK) Ltd is a growing construction company specialising in outdoor media installation and infrastructure works across the UK.
We install and remove street furniture including bus shelters, digital advertising screens, power-related civils and associated groundworks. We work on highways, footways and public realm sites, so a good understanding of streetworks, safe digging, permits and working safely around the public is important.
We are looking for an experienced Streetworks Supervisor / Working Foreman to join our team.
This is a senior hands-on role for someone who is confident supervising small civils teams, dealing with day-to-day site queries, keeping works moving safely and getting on the tools.
This is not a clipboard-only supervisor role. We need someone who can lead from the front, support the teams, make sensible site decisions and help resolve issues before they escalate.
The right person will be practical, reliable, calm under pressure and able to communicate properly with operatives, management, clients, inspectors, traffic management providers and members of the public where required.
The role will include:
Supervising small civils and streetworks teams on site
Supporting the directors/site management with day-to-day operational decisions
Helping plan and organise works, labour, materials, plant and access requirements
Reading job packs, permits, drawings and site instructions
Ensuring CAT scanning, permit checks and site setup processes are followed
Making sure works are carried out safely and to the required standard
Helping resolve site queries before they escalate
Liaising professionally with clients, inspectors, traffic management providers and members of the public where required
Assisting with groundworks, reinstatement, excavations, concreting and installations
Supporting quality control, snagging and final site checks
Helping develop good working standards across the teams
Essential requirements:
Strong streetworks, civils or groundworks experience
Previous experience supervising or leading a small team
NRSWA Supervisor qualification
SSSTS, or willingness to complete SSSTS during the probationary period
Full UK driving licence
Good understanding of safe digging, CAT scanning, permits and reinstatement standards
Confident communicator with a practical, calm approach
Able to make sensible site decisions and know when to escalate
Willing to travel and work away when required
Reliable, organised and able to take ownership of work on site
Happy to work hands-on
Desirable but not essential:
HGV / Hiab experience
Plant tickets
First Aid
Electrical, DNO, ICP, NERS, utility or power-related civils experience
Experience with bus shelters, street furniture, highways, utilities or outdoor media works
Experience working around traffic management and pedestrian management setups
About the role:
This is a full-time, permanent position based from our yard in Aldridge, Walsall, with projects carried out nationwide.
The role will usually be Monday to Friday, but there may be occasional nights, weekends or working away depending on the programme of works. Accommodation and reasonable expenses are covered when working away.
This role is subject to a 6-month probationary period, with regular reviews to make sure the role is the right fit for both the candidate and the business.
