Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Senior Care Assistant to join our care home team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting the well-being of our residents, supervising care staff, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality care. This position offers an opportunity to lead by example, utilise your leadership skills, and make a positive difference in the lives of older adults. The role involves providing personalised care, assisting with daily activities, and contributing to a warm, respectful environment for residents. A valid driving licence is desirable to support mobility needs within the community.
Duties
- Supervise and support care staff to ensure the delivery of compassionate, person-centred care in accordance with individual care plans
- Assist residents with personal care tasks such as bathing, dressing, and mobility, maintaining dignity and respect at all times
- Develop and review personalised care plans in collaboration with residents and their families
- Monitor residents’ health and wellbeing, reporting any concerns to healthcare professionals promptly
- Lead by example in maintaining high standards of hygiene, safety, and infection control within the care home
- Support residents with social activities and encourage engagement to promote mental and emotional well-being
- Assist with administrative tasks using IT systems for record keeping and communication purposes
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and team members to ensure clear understanding of needs and preferences
- Provide supervision and mentorship to junior staff members, fostering a positive team environment
Qualifications
- Previous experience working in a senior care or similar setting is highly desirable
- Supervising experience within a care home environment is essential
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide team members effectively
- Excellent communication skills to liaise confidently with residents, families, and healthcare professionals
- Knowledge of care plans and ability to implement them effectively
- Good IT skills for documentation and communication purposes
- Valid driving licence is preferred to assist with community outings or errands related to resident care
- Compassionate nature with a genuine interest in supporting older adults’ independence and quality of life
Pay: £13.11 per hour
