Job Overview
We are on the lookout for a friendly and experienced Fish and Chip Shop Counter Assistant to join our vibrant team. In this role, you'll be the first point of contact for customers, helping them choose their favorite fish and chips, taking orders, and ensuring they have a fantastic experience from start to finish. Duties
- Greet customers warmly and take their orders accurately at the counter.
- Assist in preparing food items, including basic food prep and ensuring orders are ready promptly.
- Handle cash transactions efficiently and provide correct change.
- Support the team with food safety practices, including proper handling and storage of ingredients.
- Keep the counter area clean, organized, and welcoming for customers.
- Help with food production tasks such as portioning fish, preparing batter, or managing stock levels.
- Provide excellent customer service by answering questions about menu options and dietary preferences.
Experience
- Previous experience working in a food service or restaurant environment is preferred but not essential.
- Knowledge of food preparation techniques, especially in a fast-paced setting like a fish and chip shop.
- Familiarity with food safety standards and hygiene practices.
- Experience with cash handling and point-of-sale systems is a plus.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining a friendly attitude.
- A background in culinary activities such as food production or butchery can be beneficial.
- Willingness to learn new skills related to food prep, safety, and customer service.
